Senior Firmware Programmer

As part of the Software Engineering group; participate in the firmware design, development, testing and support of Second Wind's Nomad and Triton product lines. Candidate should have object oriented design and C/C++ development experience in a Linux environment. Candidate will work closely with a group of firmware engineers and a cross functional group. Should have the flexibility and desire to perform a combination of embedded systems programming, unit and system testing, related hardware debug, writing diagnostics, developing device testers, device drivers and enhancing legacy code. Significant experience working within the engineering community in a self directed environment in the following areas:

  • C/C++, STL, TR1
  • Object Oriented Design and Methodologies
  • ARM9 with embedded Linux
  • Multi-threaded designs with pthreads, memory and resource management
  • TCP/IP, USB, Modbus protocols
  • Linux build environment, custom kernel compilation
  • Developing diagnostics and device testers
  • Device drivers
  • Real Time Operating System

The ideal candidate must have minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role and possess excellent communication skills. Requires a BSEE, BSCE degree. Experience with ARM7 with uCOS-II RTOS; RTIP network protocol stack; PPP, SMTP protocols; MSP430; IAR Embedded Workbench; Experience with modems - GSM, CDMA, GPRS, Satellite; Subversion source control, bug tracker would be a definite plus.

Data Base Administrator

As part of the Software Engineering group, the DBA will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and performance of the Second Wind SkyServe databases. Perform day to day maintenance activities, performance tuning and index maintenance.

Participate in the database re-design for scalability and performance. Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan. Take full ownership of the SkyServe databases.

Significant experience working within the engineering community in a self-directed environment in the following areas:

  • performance tuning of databases, servers, T-SQL and Stored Procedures
  • designing and implementing database backup and recovery plans
  • server and storage capacity planning
  • administering multiple SQL Server databases, log shipping, clustering
  • scalable database design, load balancing/replication
  • managing database user and data security
  • defining disaster recovery plan

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 4 years experience in a similar role and possess excellent communication skills. Requires a BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering or physics with specific experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008; T-SQL, Stored Procedures; SSIS, log shipping, replication; Windows Server 2003/2008.

Knowledge of RedGate Software, PostgreSQL on Linux, Micorsoft C#.NET, ASP.NET, IIS, VMWare are a plus.

Sales & Marketing Intern

Sales and marketing interns will work directly with senior sales and marketing personnel at Second Wind and will support the company's sales and marketing efforts by:

  • Preparing sales and marketing materials for distribution
  • Updating the customer/prospect database
  • Entering orders in the inventory system
  • Preparing and distributing press releases and press kits
  • Preparing for trade shows
  • Updating the company website

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Understanding of or high degree of interest in wind energy
  • Understanding of or high degree of interest sales and marketing
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to understand and take directions
  • Excellent English oral/written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ACT a plus

The next available full-time internship is in fall 2010. Compensation will be $10 - $12 per hour depending on skills and experience.
