Wind resource assessment: The process of measuring existing wind conditions on a site such as average wind speed, wind direction, etc. Wind farm operators and developers rely on data about wind resources to determine whether a site is a good prospect to locate one or more turbines, and exactly where they should be located and which direction each should face.

Data loggers: A class of instruments that obtain data from measurement devices, record the data, and store it somehow. Second Wind's Nomad is a well-respected, industry standard data logger for wind resource assessment.
