Second Wind News Archives Renewable Energy Veterans Join Second Wind Inc. Board of Directors
17 July 2008 — Somerville, MA – Mark E. Haller of Haller Wind Consulting, LLC, and Jonathan H. Winer of Essex Hydro Associates, LLC have been elected to the Second Wind Inc. Board of Directors.
Haller brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the renewable energy industry from positions across the country and in Germany. He is now with Haller Wind Consulting in River Falls, WI. His client work includes guiding organizations in wind project interconnection, project balance of plant estimates, and technology development.
Prior to his career with Haller Wind Consulting, Haller served as Vice President of Development and Technology at Zilkha Renewable Energy (now Horizon Wind Energy) in Houston, TX. He also completed three years as the Director of Wind Project Development at York Research Corporation in New York, NY, and two as the Director of Business Development, Americas for Enercon GmbH.
Haller was a board member of the American Wind Energy Association, and was a Peer Review Team Member for the U.S. DoE Wind R&D Program.
Winer offers to the board a multi-faceted background of experience in the wind power and renewable energy industry. As a current Executive VP with Essex Hydro Associates in Boston, MA, he is responsible for the administration, operation and finance of ten hydro projects.
Winer began his career as an attorney with the Nixon Peabody law firm and then with Green Mountain Power Corporation. He later set up a subsidiary of the company, Mountain Energy, Inc., serving as chief operating officer and then president for twelve years. When Mountain Energy was sold to enXco, Inc. in 2001, Winer stayed on as the Director of East Coast Development until 2003, where he directed and implemented wind power development strategies.
Prior to joining Essex Hydro, Winer served as Managing Consultant for La Capra Associates, Inc., where he advised and supported organizations such as the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the Connecticut Energy Advisory Board, Washington Electric Cooperative and Connecticut Clean Energy Fund with his expertise in renewable energy.
Haller and Winer join current board members Walter Sass, President of Second Wind Inc; Susan Giordano, General Manager; and Jean-Louis Brenninkmeyer, Managing Director of Good Energies.
