Second Wind Secures $4 Million in Second Round of Financing from Good Energies

18 December 2007 — Somerville, MA – Second Wind Inc., a leading provider of electronics and software for the utility-scale wind energy industry, today announced that it secured $4 million in second round financing from Good Energies, a leading global investor in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry. The investment is complementing a previous round of equity funding from earlier this year.

"We are pleased to announce this major financing round with a premier investor like Good Energies. This is a tribute to the technology innovations created by our in-house hardware and software engineering talent," said Second Wind President Walter Sass. "This second round of financing will support us in continuing our launch and rollout of our Triton sonic wind profiler. The investment from Good Energies will help us accelerate our company's growth in the years ahead and continue to develop groundbreaking products."

Headquartered in Somerville, Massachusetts, Second Wind has a sales force in North America along with dealers in Europe and Asia. Products are placed in more than 40 countries and on all seven continents, including Antarctica. Its innovative TritonT Sonic Wind Profiler reinvents sodar technology for wind assessment by capturing accurate wind data up to 200 meters, in any weather, at any location, without being attended or requiring any expert analysis.

"Second Wind's technology innovation is exactly what helps fulfill Good Energies' goal of bringing renewable energy to everyone," said Jean-Louis Brenninkmeyer, a managing director of Good Energies. "Second Wind's mission to advance the use of wind data to make wind energy profitable is a perfect fit with our own goal of contributing to the transition to a low carbon, clean energy economy globally."
