Windfarm FAA Lights Monitoring

Aircraft Obstruction Light Interface Aircraft obstruction lights are required on most modern wind turbines in the United States and internationally. In the United States, aviation authorities require interruptions in lighting to be reported and repaired as soon as possible. Version 2 of the ADMS Supervisor monitors the status of aircraft obstruction lights and notifies the wind plant operator when a bulb has either burnt out or has lost communication with the CTM.

The Supervisor polls the network twice a day; once at night and once during daylight hours. A status report can then be printed or exported to a spreadsheet.

The hardware for the aircraft obstruction light interface consists of two custom-designed circuit boards connected by fiber-optic cable.
